If you're travelling or going somewhere that doesn't allow snips or scissors, this is a great little tool to have with you as it doesn't count as a blade.
The thread cutter instead has several notches all of the way around its shape which have sharpened inner edges. Simply stretch your threads between one of these notches to cut them.
